Default numeric search windows explorer

My question here is sort of related to excel.

I am using windows search to search for a phrase in a file. If I
enter 123456 and search excel files it DOES NOT find the match. Even
though 123456 is a numeric field in excel.

Is there a way to accomplish this? I notice it puts quotes" around
the 123456. Is there something different I should do so it will
search numeric fields in the excel file?

thanks,
ga

First of all you need to make sure the file is saved. Then search 123456 in
the second part where it says "a word or phrase in the file". Not where it
says "all or part of the file name".

Art, thanks for your suggestions but that's what I'm doing.

I think what is happening is it is only searching "text" data and not
numeric data????

I am running windows xp service pack 3 and it flat out don't work.
