Default SMART TAGS

While working in Excel and Word those little boxes appear, I guess they are
called smart tags. I know they are meant to help, but frequently, and
parrticularly in Excel, they get in the way. How does one shut them off, or
make them appear somewhere otehr than over the cell you are tryign to look at?

They are not smart tags.

They are option boxes for various features like copy/pasting and
inserting/deleting

To turn them off go to ToolsOptionsEdit and uncheck both of them.

Office Button, Excel Options, Advanced, Cut,copy and Paste, uncheck Show
options....
