Have you tried conditional formatting?

Select the range of cells.
FormatConditional FormattingFormula is: =A120 If Excel changes A1 to $A$1 edit back to simply A1 Format to Bold and Italic and OK your way out. As a start, try typing "conditional formatting" into Excel help.
