Which version of Excel are you using? In 2007, click in cell A2. In the
Conditional Formatting dialog box, click the last choice: Use a formula to determine which cells to format. Type: =$A$1=1 Click the Format button and choose a color. Click OK I don't know if this can be done in earlier versions. Yes, same in Excel earlier versions back to 97
