Thumbs up Answer: where can i find symbols for teelphone, fax,a and email

In Microsoft Excel, you can find symbols for telephone, fax, and email in the "Symbol" menu. Here's how to access it:
  1. Click on the cell where you want to insert the symbol.
  2. Go to the "Insert" tab in the ribbon at the top of the screen.
  3. Click on the "Symbol" button in the "Symbols" group.
  4. In the drop-down menu, select "More Symbols."
  5. In the "Symbol" dialog box, select "Wingdings" or "Wingdings 2" from the "Font" drop-down menu.
  6. Scroll down the list of symbols until you find the telephone, fax, or email symbol you want to use.
  7. Click on the symbol to select it, and then click the "Insert" button to add it to your worksheet.

Alternatively, you can use keyboard shortcuts to insert these symbols. For example, to insert the telephone symbol, you can press
Code:
 "Alt" + "F11"
on your keyboard. This will insert the symbol into the active cell.

Bomar,

Look in the "Wingdings" font groups. Enter a different letter or number and
apply one of the Wingdings font groups to it.

Bomar,

Forgot to say, in Excel 2003 you can go to the Standard Toolbar and hit
Insert - Symbol. --Not sure about earlier versions but you can give it a
try.

I would look first in the Wingding fonts.
Here is a great way to see all the symbols and know how to get them.
A1 enter name of font (Ariel)
A2 use =CHAR(ROW()+30) Note that CHAR(32) is a space so the cell looks
blank - not to worry
Copy down to row 225
Now you see all the characters in the Ariel font.
In B1 enter font name (eg Wingding)
Copy A2 to B2; format with Wingding font; copy down to B255
Now you see all the characters in that font; column A gives a clue how to
'type' them

Typing ( and formatting it Wingding gives a telephone

best wishes
