I'm trying to insert a Pivot Table but all I get is the skeleton outline with
the basic fields - the toolbar itself does not appear. I'm accessing my computer at my place of work from home using a VPN. At work I use Excel 2007 (XP) but on my home computer I have Excel 2003 (VISTA) - is this the problem? Any help gratefully accepted! Thanks, Carmel |

Try selecting a cell inside the outline, the toolbar should appear once you
do this. "Carmel R" wrote: I'm trying to insert a Pivot Table but all I get is the skeleton outline with the basic fields - the toolbar itself does not appear. Have you tried Alt+V,T this should show the toolbars availble, then select
the Pivot Table toolbar. "Carmel R" wrote: Thanks, but that doesn't work.... "RobM" wrote: Try selecting a cell inside the outline, the toolbar should appear once you do this. Sorry - this doesn't get me anywhere either. The "active field" on the
ribbon is greyed out. It's as though it can't identify the fields, but I used a Pivot Table in it yesterday and everything was OK. Weird. Thanks for your suggestions anyway. There are compatibility issues for pivot tables between Excel 2007 and
earlier versions. What version was the pivot table created in, and which version are you using to open the file? Hi,
The spreadsheet was created at my place of work, where I have Excel 2007. On my computer at home I have Excel 2003. I'm accessing my work computer from home, via a VPN. When I access my work computer from home using the VPN I can use Excel in the 2007 version. I had thought that by VPN-ing to my work PC then I would have access to all the higher functions. It does seem however that this is not the case, and I'll have to manage using filters etc. but if you do have any suggestions I'd be very grateful! Thanks, Carmel "Debra Dalgleish" wrote: There are compatibility issues for pivot tables between Excel 2007 and earlier versions. Maybe your IT department can help you tomorrow, or explain why you
aren't getting the Excel 2007 functions. If you right-click on the pivot table, maybe you'll get the shortcut menu, which would give you a bit more functionality.
