I was having this problem as well - and after reading the reply from koitaki
posted on 7/17, I realized the problem could be my new Logitech Keyboard. My F2 worked in Excel prior to using the new keyboard. I believe I must have accidentally turned off the F-function keys - and so everytime I tried to edit something in Excel, it would jump to WORD. Drove me insane. So thanks to koitaki, and the tip about the F-Mode key on the keyboard, I am back in business. I hope you are too. Cheers.
