Excel should have a absolute reference cell property.
It would be nice if you could set an absolute reference property in on cells
in your worksheet. By setting this property each time the cell reference was used in a formula it would automatically be set as a absolute reference. I think this would improve productivity by reducing the time it takes to fix these references. |

You could define a name for the cell. That way it each use of the name in a
formula would reference that cell. -- Kind Regards, Niek Otten Microsoft MVP - Excel "Unitrip" wrote in message ... Yes I agree. I use names currently because the feature i mentioned is not
available. I think new users understand absolute references before they learn about names. If would be nice if when you named a cell it would give you the option at that point to cascade that name through all of your formulas. Instead of having to go through the menus. Check out the Indirect() function in HELP;
perhaps that would help you in your situation. "Niek Otten" wrote in message ... You could define a name for the cell. Excel has many solutions to this problem. An example of when this product
improvement suggestion would be useful: Someone creates an Excel template. Other users can add their own formulas to the file. If the person that created the template could just set a cell property to absolute they would not have to worry about the other users making a mistake in their formulas by not using an absolute reference. It could also eliminate additional training for the users. I have taught Excel for 5 years and absolute referencing always seems so difficult for new users to remember to put in their formulas. Or making changes to someone elses work. It would not solve all problems but I think it could make it easier. Again this is just a suggestion.
