Hi,
15 digits, have a look here http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ex...992911033.aspx Mike "ViestaWu" wrote: Does anyone can tell me how many digits can a number show me with no decimals? and why? |

There is a limit of 15 digits precision in Excel (you can use more
digits if you treat the values as text). This is a direct consequence of the way Excel stores numbers in binary format, using 64 bits split into mantissa and exponent as defined by IEEE. Many other software applications use this same approach. Hope this helps. Note that it's 15 *significant digits*. You can get more figures before the
decimal point, but the ones at the trailing end will be zeroes. -- David Biddulph "Mike H" wrote in message ... Many other software applications will display 17 digits, since that is how
many digits are required to uniquely determine the binary representation of an output number. Presumably MS displays only 15 digits to avoid explaining why sometimes the 16th or 17th figure of the output of a number that you input are different than what you typed.
