Try "Ctrl+A", "CTRL+C", in Word. "CTRL+V" in Excel.

Save as a file format that both apps use, like html or txt.
This said, word and excel is like ice cream and music, you can't just
convert one into another without loss of significant functionality.

HTH. Best wishes Harald

that just simply copy and pastes the document but the formatting is entirely
off. is there anyway to keep the formatting within 1 page width restrictions
so i do not have to reformat 32 pages

FWIW neither Word or Excel have real "pages", and Word will reflow if
you change printers or papersize. You could create "images" of the
"pages" from Word and paste those into Excel. Not sure why a document is
being inserted into a spreadsheet, but it wouldn't look too pretty
without a whole lot of work.
