WHY DOES DATE FORMAT CHANGE IN COLUMN
Try formatting the cell as DD/MM/YY again then click on the cell, press F2
followed by Enter. If that doesn't fix it, make sure there isn't an apostrophe before the date (check in the formula bar) forcing it to be text.
