I'm having trouble opening an Excel file.
First, I have researched this board. I have made sure ToolsOptionsGeneral uncheck "Ignore other Applications" is unchecked. I have run unregserver and regserver as described in many posts. I have closed everything and restarted the computer. I suspect the problem is in the file - how it is saved. When I open it, I get a completely gray screen, but when I select Print Preview, the information is visible. I could print it out easily. Sometimes, when I receive files from this sender, the window is "shrunk" so only the blue bar and a bit of the worksheet is showing. I have to expand the file both wide and tall. Other files he sends are usually fine. I'm wondering if it is shrunk so small that I can't expand it. (Honey, I shrunk the worksheet?) If I type in the cell numbers (ex: A1, B1, etc.) I can see the values. Just can't see the worksheet. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. -- ljb -- ljb |

I suspect your file is opening to a blank area of the spreadsheet but the
print area is somewhere else. Try the F5 (goto) and select print area. This should take you to the area that is to be printed and then you can see the cell assignments for it. Let me know if it works for you. "David Biddulph" wrote: Have you tried Window/ Arrange ... ? -- David Biddulph "ljb" wrote in message ... I'm having trouble opening an Excel file. I could not find the point you were referencing, but here is what worked. I selected Full Screen from the View menu. That is not a good view, but after unselecting Full Screen, all the documents open ok. I have no idea why that re-set the view, but it's fixed. I get a lot of Excel spreadsheets emailed, and frequently only the top blue bar is showing with a fraction of the worksheet. I have to drag the corners to display the sheet. No idea why this happens, either, so I'm hoping the Full Screen will help that. Thanks again. |
