I think it also depends on what you know already. If you don't know much at
all I would think about getting an Excel For Dummies.... Nothing really
replaces playing with it also.. making a personal budget and then taking a
dummies book or the online help and saying ok how do I make a pivot table
that will show me how much I spend on groceries in each of these months..

If you already know quite a bit then I would think about taking a community
college course. You could probably find an online course if your schedule
does not allow you to go somewhere.
