Default bugs in microsoft exel 2007

there are bugs in microsoft exel 2007 for calculation of:
154,2 x 1700 = 262.140 if the result we divide by 4 equal to 100.000 and
then if we multiply again with 4 it's back to 262.140
and also if the result (262.140) we divide by 2 and than multiply again with
2 the result is 100.000
or:
154,2 x 1700 = 262.140 / 4 = 100.000 x 4 = 262.140 /2 = 131.070 / 2 = 100.000

any comment? or do i have to use previous microsoft exel to avoid this bug?

Excel follows the rules of math which are it will do all steps inside
parenthases then it will do all multiplting then dividing then adding
then subtracting. Chek to make sure that the result that you want to
come up with is not breaking these rules.

I know the rules, but if you follow the step that i made by exel and you
check 262.140 divide by 4 the result is not 100.000 but it should be 65.535
please check with your calculator not using your exel
it's mean exel is calculated it wrong.

compare the result with calculator
154,2 x 1700 / 4 =
the result by exel will be 100.00
and with calculator will be 65.535

and 262.140 / 4 = 65.535 not 100.000

Imagine if it used by engineer what will it be.

This was discussed at length when the problem was discovered last year.
You'll find numerous mentions on this and other Excel newsgroups. For a

I cannot reproduce your problem.

When I enter: =154.2*1700/4

I get 65535

No, you just need to update to SP1.

Probably you have not updated to SP1 This problem was reported, and fixed by
Microsoft, some time ago. It is a problem with the display engine within
Excel, supposedly.

Default bugs in microsoft exel 2007

I'm confused and will show my ignorance:

The comma confuses me. What is 154,2?

If I divide 262.14 by1700 I get 0.1452. Is the ",2" a way of entering
"/100" (in which case the "bug" would be that its actually doing "/1000"?)?
If so, what is the advantage of using ",2" rather than "/100"? (Incidentally,
I can't get ",2" in a formula to do anything in Excel 2000 other than give an
error message.
