Default insert an extra row or collum

Please send steps in order to tell me how to put in a row so column A becomes
column be and column a can be used for another set of data. It will help me a
lot if the steps are in a list and not in a paragraph. I would also be much
obliged to have these steps as quickly as can be managed.

Try this:

right-click in column A
choose insert
tick entire column
click OK

OR:

position cursor in column A
hit CTRL SPACE
hit CTRL + (on your numeric key pad)

Cheers,
