Default How come replace is so slow?

Every month I edit a worksheet with 22,000 rows.
I take 2 columns, hit find and replace, and change all blank cells to zeros.
In Excel XP it would take 3 seconds. Now it takes 3 minutes. This is
unacceptable, but I haven't found a fix or another reference to this problem.
Anyone know a way I get get Excel to do it's job?

Thanks,
Nathan

Hi Nathan

Try it with calculation = manual
ToolsOptions..Calculation

If you have a change event in the sheet it is also possible that it is very slow

Thank's for the suggestion, but alas it still takes 3 minutes (there are no
calculations at this early step, it's just text), instead of 3 seconds.

I don't know why this is suddenly a problem in Excel 2003, but not in all
previous versions...
