Unfortunately, this doesn't work. As soon as I click the "delete" button it
gives me an error that starts with, "The Pivot table field name is not valid .. . . I also checked Debra's site but didn't see anything there that would help. Anybody else have an idea?? If that doesn't get it then check out Debra's site, it has everything you need on Pivot Tables. http://www.contextures.com/tiptech.html -- -John Please rate when your question is answered to help us and others know what is helpful. "csdjj" wrote: I'm using Excel 2002. I have a very simple pivot table with 'Product' in the row and 'Cost' in the data. The problem is, I was playing around trying to learn calculated items and created a calculated item that I don't need -- but is now causing me problems. Since I've created the calculated item, I can no longer have a data field in two locations (e.g., having 'Product' not only in the row but also in the data area). I've tried to delete the calculated field but it just gives me an error that says 'Pivot Table field name is not valid . . . ' If I copy the source data into a completely new spreadsheet and re-create the pivot table it works fine so I know the calculated field is causing the problem. Can someone tell me how to get rid of it? (Even though the example I used above is a simple pivot table, I actually have about 15 complicated pivot tables in this spreadsheet so re-creating them all would be a big pain.)
