Default Can Columns be split?

I am trying to split a column so that I can change the width of a range of
cells without changing the width of the cells above it....?

I simply cannot figure this out nor am I able to find any help on this...

If you're asking if you can have column D be one width above row 10, say and
another below row 10, no, it can't be done. If that's not what you're
asking, please rephrase your question.

NO you can't do that. You can merge cells in adjacent columns to simulate
this.

That was my exact question, Thank you. I found that working with table in
the way that I was trying to work with them is easier to do in Word than in
excel and I get the outcome I was looking for.

thank you.
