Default Shared workbook locked

Hello
We have an excel file which is shared on the server. Until now we had rarely
problem with it. but we have a new user (John) and the problem started. While
he opens the file & makes his changes after awhile other users get the error
"the file is locked by John" while he didn't locked it and the file is still
shared. then even John gets the same error that the file is locked by
himself! When we restart his computer it is OK for some minutes then again
problem occurs. I checked the shared users and his name is repeated several
times as a current user who has the file open. As I thought may be his Excel
can't delete its temporary file automatically when he close the file, so I
deleted the temp backup files on the server to another folder but still the
problem exist.

He can't update his file and save his changes and others can't update when
he opens the file. That's a very bad situation. I searched Internet and I saw
that some users have similar problem.

Please kindly help me on this issue.

Thanks
