Hi all,
I'm using MSOffice 2003 and XP ProSP2 . Problem: In the Office applications all the hotkeys work correctly except Alt-E (Edit). When this hotkey is used the Edit menu button appears 'depressed' but the Edit pull down does not open up. After Alt-E, I have to use Down-Arrow or Enter to get the menu to open. In other applications (not Office) this is not an issue, in outlook express for instance the alt-e hotkey works fine. I am so used to Word's Alt-E, incombination with e, s, and f, that this really bugs me. Can anyone think of a way for me to fix this? Any help much appreciated! best regards, Bob |

You have two icons that have the E as the accelerator key.
Hit alt-e a few times while watching the toolbars. You'll see another icon that looks depressed when Edit isn't depressed. You can either remove that accelerator key or remove the icon and just keep it for the Edit dropdown. If you want to remove that accelerator key from the second icon tools|customize (just to see the dialog) rightclick on the offending icon Remove the ampersand (&) from the Name in the dropdown that you see. Have you added any other commandbar controls that have Alt+E as the Hotkey - either defined or labelled?
For example, adding a control labelled "R&ed Text" - with the 'e' underlined. This will confuse the commandbar as to which menu/button should be activated by Alt+E. Either that or if you've imported an Add-In or Template that has a macro set to use Alt+E. Quote:
