password 'changes'
Excel 2000
A colleague has password protected a workbook and now can't remove it. She insists her password is correct, and I've tried every variation I can think of. I've sorted it once for her (by copying to a fresh workbook and overwriting), but now she says it's happened again. Before I do something violent - is there any way a password can cease to function, some sort of bug perhaps? -- Linda M |

Hi
If it is a workbook or worksheet password, download my file from here. http://home.ripway.com/2004-11/20577...swordsCBAR.xls If it is a file open password, you will need to purchase a commercial password remover. See http://www.Lostpassword.com If it is vba passwords, If it is the vba password and is excel 97 or earlier, see vbapass97 at the site link below. It is in German but is free and works great. if excel 2000 and later, this text file worked for me when I followed the directions. http://www.schmittis-page.de/index.h...l/vba/t48e.htm HTH Ken |

Thanks Ken, This will make my life easier:)
The real puzzle with this one is she is insistent the password (on Workbook not sheet) is correct; and as it is short and obvious (her name), and was typed minutes before she tried to unlock, it is hard to see how she got it wrong. (I've tried Caps Lock etc) Have you come across passwords corrupting?
