Hello,
I have to create a sheet with 1) 6 columns all different widths, 2) another 6 columns with different widths (side by side with the first 6 columns but with different data) and 3) once all data entered in those two sets of 6 colums i then need to enter data (starting on a blank row but with all the same width for colums. Is this possible? If you can sort whatever I am trying to explain here and find a solution i would be gratetul. Thank you for your time and efforts re my query |

From an earlier post from Gord Dibben" "Row heights and column widths are properties of the row and column and cannot be changed throughout. My fingers are shaking and my heart is racing as I type the following......... You could use the Merge Cells option and merge several cells together horizontally or vertically. Merged cells can cause no end of problems with copying, pasting, filtering, sorting and a few others I can't think of right now. They do have their purpose, I guess<g Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP" Hope this helps Mike Rogers "Joanne" wrote: Hello, I have to create a sheet with 1) 6 columns all different widths, 2) another 6 columns with different widths (side by side with the first 6 columns but with different data) and 3) once all data entered in those two sets of 6 colums i then need to enter data (starting on a blank row but with all the same width for colums. Mike,
My fingers are shaking and my heart is racing just thinking about merging ;). Eventhough I do use, occasionnally, the merging command, i also always close my eyes titghtly and hold my breath the fear of seeing everything deleted being so great ;). i definitely will not use it for the kind of work I have to do now. Thank you again for having taking the time to reply to my request. Not possible within the original 12 columns.
Column width and row height are the properties of the entire column and row. Note the word "entire".
