When I click the "New" workbook icon Excel 2003 opens the New Workbook task
pane. I only use the templates on my computer (located in the default directory). Is there any way I can make the Templates dialog box open when I click on the "New" icon without going through the New Workbook task pane? The same question also applies to Word 2003. Thanks for your help and time. Jerry |

Marcelo,
Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, I've already done that and it doesn't stop the "New Workbook" task pane from opening. Could it be that unchecking the "Startup Task Pane" only stops the pane you would see when starting Excel and doesn't affect the other task panes? Any other suggestions? Thanks again, Jerrito "Marcelo" wrote: Hello, Jerrito Go to Tools | Options | on the view tab uncheck the Startup Task Pane hth -- regards from Brazil Thanks in advance for your feedback. Marcelo,
The new workbook task pane appears when I select "File, New. . ." from the menu and also when I click on the "New" icon on the standard tool bar. Do I have to do a registry hack to make it work the way I want? Thanks for your patience--I appreciate it.
