Default Cannot be Accessed

I'm getting the following error. File Name cannot be accessed. The file may
be read-only or you may be trying to access a read only location. Or, the
server the document is stored on may not be responding.

What happened, I closed the file and then tried to reopen and got the error
message above. The file is on my hard drive, not a network drive so there is
no server to reboot and the location is not read only. I've checked the files
properties and it is not selected to ready only. I've tried opening with
other programs and they all error out. Any suggestions, hints, or things to
try to recover some of the data?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Vick
