Default Multi column lookup

Any suggestions. In columns A & B I have names that are added to on a regular
basis, the names can appear in either column but never in adjcent cells in
the same row. In columns C & D are numeric values associated with the names
in A & B. What I wannt to do is to locate in columns E & F the last occurence
of the values, eg. if New York is in A100 and London is in B100 I want to
enter in E100 the associated value for New York (found in either col C or D),
likewise London's last value in F100. I have tried various lookup, match and
index formulas but with no luck. Many thanks in advance.
