Default Excel 2007 leaves files offline under Vista

[Apologies if you've already seen this... previously posted in wrong group
and with mis-typed title. I just discovered that excel.misc is where the
action is ... :) ]

Uing Vista SP1 and Office 2007 SP1, and working in a folder that's enabled
for "offline files", there's a bug in Excel. I'm comparing the
behavior to Word 2007 which appears to work correctly.

At the beginning of this test the computer is online with the server and
both..doc and .xls files are synchronized.

Open the .doc file with Word, the .xls file with Excel.
Both files are seen to go offline. This is appears to be normal behavior.
No changes are made to either .doc or .xls file.
Now, close the document, or close Word or Excel.
The .doc file goes back online.
The .xls file remains offline, and will stay that way until some other event
causes re-synchronization.

Any hotfix?

TIA,
Carl
