Hi ,
In my case i am getting excle filr from SAP in my out look mail box directly. when i am trying to open the file i am getting below message The file is not in a recognizable format €¢ If you know the file is from another program which is incompatible with Microsoft excel click cancel, then open this file in its original application. If you want to open the file later in Microsoft excel. Save it in a format that is compatible, such as text format. €¢ If you suspect the file is damaged, click help for more information about solving the problem. €¢ If you still want to see what text is contained in the file, click OK. Then click finish in the text import wizard so i just want to confirm . is this message is providing by excle to avoid external threat. |

hi,
possibly not. I have not worked with sap in about 6-7 years so things may have change but when i did work with sap, sap export data as a flat file ie plain ascii text. i suspect that whoever is emailing you the "sap data" is importing it into an application they have and emailing their application file which excel doesn't recognize. my guess. regards FSt1 "Amit Kulkarni" wrote: Hi , In my case i am getting excle filr from SAP in my out look mail box directly. when i am trying to open the file i am getting below message The file is not in a recognizable format €¢ If you know the file is from another program which is incompatible with Microsoft excel click cancel, then open this file in its original application. Hi Jim,
Thanks for the reply. I am getting this message while openng the excle file. About excle ,we are using excle 2003. May be its not an excle file at all dispite its name Thanks Amit "Jim Rech" wrote: is this message is providing by excle to avoid external threat. Most likely the reason Excel cannot open the file is just what it said: The file is not in a recognizable format It's either a corrupted Excel file, a version it cannot read (i.e., Excel 2007) or not an Excel file at all despite its name. -- Jim "Amit Kulkarni" <Amit wrote in message ... | Hi , | | In my case i am getting excle filr from SAP in my out look mail box directly. | when i am trying to open the file i am getting below message | | The file is not in a recognizable format | | . I have used it to repair many corrupt Excel xls files successfully. Its homepage is http://www.datanumen.com/aer/ Hope this helps. Alan |
