Default Opening Excel by double-clicking a file doesn't work!

When i double-click an Excel file on my computer to open Excel, it opens
Excel, but doesnt open the document. I need to have Excel open first in order
for it to open the document when i double-click it. Any ideas?

Also, when i double-click an Excel attachment from outlook, it just hangs /
freezes. i need to escape out and save the attachment on my c-drive first and
then open it that way...

Win Server 2003 SP2 / Office 2007 SP1

Help - This is Annoying!!

Yesterday Jim Rech answered a similar question:

<Seems to be a bug in Excel 2007. Thousands (it seems) have reported it.
