Default Excel Very Slow when Using Network Account to Access Local File

After logging into a system using any network account, some workbooks that
are located even on the local drive yield very slow response when making
modifications. For example, inserting a new row can take 30 seconds to
complete. This is an operation that should take less than one second to
complete.

If the same workbook is accessed on the same local drive, but while logged
into the computer with a local machine account, the Excel performance if just
fine.

Is this a known problem? Any suggestions?

TIA
