Use SUMPRODUCT.
See countless examples in this newsgroup. -- David Biddulph "Lorenzo" wrote in message ... I would like to sum a column only if meets the criteria of one and another column. what formula should i be using? i was using sumif but this is for the criteria of one column. |

Lorenzo --
Not sure from your question -- do you mean compute the sum of cells in rows where two other criteria are met? Or compute a sum of all rows if two criteria are met (otherwise, do something else). If you're using xl2007, take a look at =sumifs() in excel's help.
In xl2003 and below: =sumproduct(--(a1:a10="something"),--(b1:b10="another"),C1:c10) Adjust the ranges to match--but you can't use whole columns (except in xl2007). =sumproduct() likes to work with numbers. The -- stuff changes trues and falses to 1's and 0's. Bob Phillips explains =sumproduct() in much more detail he http://www.xldynamic.com/source/xld.SUMPRODUCT.html And J.E. McGimpsey has some notes at: http://mcgimpsey.com/excel/formulae/doubleneg.html Lorenzo wrote: I would like to sum a column only if meets the criteria of one and another column. what formula should i be using? i was using sumif but this is for the criteria of one column. -- Dave Peterson |
