how to save versions of multiple linked excel files?
Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has an answer to this problem I'm facing
which colleagues also face. I sometimes get multiple excel files that are all interlinked with fomulas. I need to modify them separately but also save versions in case any of them crashes or I need to go back, but when I save different versions, the lniks all become ireelevant. Anyway to save versions but still keep links updated? The other way is to collapse them all into a humongous file but this gets unwieldy with 50+ sheets... thanks for any good ideas! |

Almost as unweildy as combining all sheets into a single book, but should work:
Simply have all the workbooks open and use Save As on each one in turn, the references to renamed workbooks will change automatically. Once all of the names have been changed, you can begin making revisions with or without the others being open.
