Okay, I have looked at the Inventory Templates for Access and also for Excel
and haven't found anything that quite meets my needs -- and not smart enough to mess with what templates are there to make them work the way I want. So this is what I am looking to do and maybe someone can point me towards a template or tell me how I might edit an existing Microsoft template. 1. Dealing with apparel inventory 2. Want to be able to pick an item from a list (e.g. T-shirt, Fleece) 3. Based upon what is selected in #2 the next column would be Brand (Hanes, Gildan, etc.) 4. Based upon what is selected in #3 the next column would be Style (5370, 2000, etc.) 5. Based upon what is finally selected in #4 I would be presented with the information related to that specific Style -- which would be a. each of the colors in that style b. the sizes in each color c. and the quantity on hand in each size/color 6. Then be able to change the quantity I don't need to worry about PO# or anything else -- just look up and see what I have in stock for a particular Product/Brand/Style by size & color and modify it. Any assistance or guidance would be more than appreciated. Thanks |

Sounds like you need Data Validation dropdown list with dependent lists coming
off that. Kinda like nested boxes.....big box holds medium box holds small box etc. See Debra Dalgleish's site for instructions on creating and drilling down through dependent lists. http://www.contextures.on.ca/xlDataVal02.html See also Debra's site for VLOOKUP function instructions. The VLOOKUP will pull the final data in step 5 http://www.contextures.on.ca/xlFunctions02.html Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Tue, 19 Feb 2008 14:27:02 -0800, PapaBear wrote: Okay, I have looked at the Inventory Templates for Access and also for Excel and haven't found anything that quite meets my needs -- and not smart enough to mess with what templates are there to make them work the way I want.
