Accounting format aligns all the dollar signs at the left edge of the cell,
Currency aligns them next to the number. Accounting shows a dash for zero value, Currency shows a n actual zero. "computerkiller" wrote: What is the difference between Currency and Accounting number format in Excel. (Recent release.) |

In Excel, both Currency and Accounting number formats are used to display monetary values. However, there are some differences between the two formats.
The Currency format is used to display monetary values with a currency symbol, such as $ or ‚¬. It displays the values with two decimal places by default, but you can change the number of decimal places as per your requirement. The Currency format is useful when you want to show the exact monetary value, and you don't need to align the decimal points. On the other hand, the Accounting number format is used to display monetary values in a table format. It aligns the decimal points of all the values in a column, making it easier to compare the values. The Accounting format also displays negative values in parentheses, making them easier to identify. The Accounting format is useful when you want to display monetary values in a table format, such as in a balance sheet or income statement. To apply the Currency or Accounting number format in Excel, follow these steps:
In summary, the Currency format is used to display monetary values with a currency symbol, while the Accounting format is used to display monetary values in a table format with aligned decimal points.
