the boss is trying to simply copy a formula from one column to the following
six columns. This should result in formulas with relative cell addresses. Instead, it's copying absolute cell addresses, even though no $ symbols show. I've had her make sure that Manual Calculation is *not* checked. She can't think of anything else she may have accidentally checked. Can anyone help me? It's not good to get her stressed :-} |

Hi,
instead of copying the formula, have you try to drag it? What version of Excel are you using. That is the first time I ear about that kind of probleme. -- Yanick "MomRaack" wrote: the boss is trying to simply copy a formula from one column to the following six columns. sorry, that's info I should've included from the get-go, I know (blush)
She's using Excel 2003 -- and she did the "copy" by dragging and *also* by copy and paste. This is a weird one, all right! She's closed Excel, gone back in ... I believe she's re-booted her computer -- I'm about ready to tell her to boot it out the window. I don't know well enough how Microsoft likes thing worded to try to use their knowledge base (can't they be a little more intuitive??), so I'm hoping y'all can help. We can almost certainly help whenever you deign to post the formula, and the
version of Excel. We still haven't seen a sample of the formula that won't change as it is copied.

Bosses are funny creatures. I asked her for the exact formula and she emailed
back right away "oh, that fixed it -- I set it to automatic and everything was fine" Thanks so much for your help, though. :) "Don Guillett" wrote: Care to post the formula -- Don Guillett Microsoft MVP Excel SalesAid Software "MomRaack" wrote in message ... the boss is trying to simply copy a formula from one column to the following six columns.
