Go to Tools-Options-select the Security tab and see what you have set, change
as needed.

Having the same problem...don't want to be prompted to increase security with
encryption/password for increasing security. Creating problems. THanks.
Can you provide the directions for 2007?

See Ron de Bruin's site for "Where to find the menu commands in 2007".

Menu commands have nothing to do with what is happening. When I go to close
the Excel 2007 file, it sometimes asks me if I "want to increase security by
converting to an office open XML format"., of which I don't want to EVEN be
prompted for this as I just want to close the file. How can we turn this
off? I think this is a programming issue.
? Its definately a pain.

Sorry........I thought you wanted to know how to get to ToolsOptionsSecurity

Did you look at the settings under Security tab for any clues?
