Default Date and time

I want to change the way the date and time appears in a spreadsheet. I am
now geeting military time and a y/m/day format. I want to show the time in
a 12Hr. format and the date as Jan. 30, 2008. Itried to cange it in the
control panel but it did not chage when I placed the formula in the
spreadsheet. Ii looked ok in the dialog box in the control panel but in the
sheet it came up incorrect.

Default Date and time

Excel uses the Regional settings of short date for its default date format.

You cannot change short date to Jan. 30, 2008

Excel's default time format is taken from Regional settings Time format.

You can change that setting to hh:mm:ss

In Excel you can format after the fact just about anyway you want.

FormatCellsNumberDate

Choose a format from there or go to FormatCellsNumberCustom and build your
own
