Default Invalid format

I have several users that have up-graded to office 2007. This week (01/07/08)
they were unable to open their spreadsheet that were in xls, xlsx, and xlw
format. They would get file is not valid format or corrupted message. I had
client try opening files in excel 2003 and they were able to do so. Has
anyone else had this experience? Can problem be relayed to the latest office
2007 security up-date? They were able to open and work with the file last
week (12/30/07).
