See the following Microsoft Knowledgebase article for a possible explanation

Thanks for your reply, Mr.Backmann.
But I am afraid the fix you suggest is for Windows Server 2003. I am using Windows XP 2003 Pro on my laptop with Office 2003 Pro. Untill recently (15 days or so), I didnt had this issue. Since 15 days, i have this error and I dont remember installing any Office Updates during this time. The only other references that I've found to this problem are possible 3rd
party software applications that have locked the clipboard for one reason or another and using remote hosting. See if you can cet anything off of http://www.tek-tips.com/index.cfm. You'll have to join to the forum, but it's free. I found no additional information regarding this issue in the knowledge base. -- Kevin Backmann "Sathish" wrote: Thanks for your reply, Mr.Backmann. Try this:
Launch taskmanager in processes tab end process called rdclip.exe That solves problem for my Excel 2007 in XP,Pro, which does the same thing. -- Bas V "Sathish" wrote: When I try to move the content of the cell from one to another, i get the said error. Why the error happens and how to avoid it? |

Have the same problem in Excel 2007. the knowledge base claims the problem is
a conflict with GetRight Monitor, but I do not have that third-party application. I have removed rdpclip.exe and continue to encounter the error message. The solutions posed do not apply to my situation. However, in googleing I
discovered a workaround: hold down the escape key when dragging and dropping. It is not a solution but will keep me going until Microsoft comes up with a fix. The suggestion came from: http://kdcinfo.com/blog/2007/11/cann...clipboard.html. Aparently this has been a problem for some time. Shame on you, Microsoft.
