Default Excel 2007 Keyboard does not type what I enter

I figure it has to do with something about regions or something like that,
but when I type a . (period) I get a . (period), but when I type a (greater
than) I still get a . (period).

Also when I type other keys, I get the wrong things, such as é when I type a
/

Only Excel is acting like this, none of the other Office apps are doing it.
So I figure it has to do with a default language or location, but I don't
know where to look.

Can anyone help me??
