In Office XP I was able to lock the position of Excel text boxes and still
allow text entry in a protected worksheet. I can't seem to lock the position of text boxes in Excel 2007 and still allow entry in a protected sheet. Thanks for the help. |

Pardon my saying so, but that just seems bizarre. Why would they change such
a basic function? Because of this behavior, text boxes in Excel don't seem very useful any more. MS admitted that in Excel 2007 they tried to standardize shapes across the
Office product line. I believe that some of the Excel only drawing objects were lost in that effort, replaced by objects that were 'close enough' for most purposes. For instance it appears to me that the Excel 2007 text box is really just a rectangle. (You get a green "rotate handle" when you select a "text box" in 2007 unlike in 2003, but like rectangles in both 2003 and 2007). This change is unfortunate and caused me a lot of work.
