Excel 2003 SP2 mystery url links
The facts:
3 linked workbooks (split due to size): workbook #1: budget model.xls approx 5MB; has 5-6 tabs, nothing exciting workbook #2: recon model data.xls - approx 7MB 6 tabs consisting of a sheet with about 3000 lines of data and the rest of the tabs contain pivot tables or flat data workbook #3: report data - approx 15MB; 3 tabs - 1 with 11,000 rows of data and two with pivot tables Windows XP 2002 SP2 running on a thinkpad with .99GB ram 1.73mhz processor and a 55GB hard drive The problem - each time I open any of the 3 workbooks, I get approximately 12 link errors that go something like this: Unable to open https://www....etc.xls. Cannot download the information you requested. The final message is: Excel cannot complete the task with available resources. Choose less data or close other applications. Often, if I try to open workbook #2 (data) or #3(data) after opening workbook #1, a repaired version of the file opens up with a message about how corrupt the file was. If I close all files and open file #2 or #3 first, I can then open file #1 I have no idea where these links are coming from, I certainly didn' create them and I 'm the owner/auther or the workbook, no one else has access or has made changes. |

Excel 2003 SP2 mystery url links
Fixed my own problem. Went into Insert...Name...Define to correct a reference
and discovered a boat load of named ranges that referred to documents all over the web. These didn't appear in the drop down box where you can quickly navigate to your named ranges, I only discovered them when I went in through the menu. Hope this helps somene else out. Keywords: links, urls, named ranges, web references "Jim" wrote: The facts: 3 linked workbooks (split due to size): workbook #1: budget model.xls approx 5MB; has 5-6 tabs, nothing exciting workbook #2: recon model data.xls - approx 7MB 6 tabs consisting of a sheet with about 3000 lines of data and the rest of the tabs contain pivot tables or flat data workbook #3: report data - approx 15MB; 3 tabs - 1 with 11,000 rows of data and two with pivot tables Windows XP 2002 SP2 running on a thinkpad with .99GB ram 1.73mhz processor and a 55GB hard drive The problem - each time I open any of the 3 workbooks, I get approximately 12 link errors that go something like this: Unable to open https://www....etc.xls.
