Default Copy and Paste Filtered Cells in Excel 2007

I have filtered a large list and want to copy the contents of the cells
containing the filtered criteria into the adjacent column so that I can
correct them whilst leaving the original data intact. I know how to 'go to'
- 'visible cells only' and then copy, but when I paste the data it is not
pasting into the filtered rows. For example, my filtered row numbers run
from 408, 1608, 1711, 2069 and there are about 300 records that meet the
filter criteria. When I paste the records, they are simply being pasted into
row 408 - 708. Thanks, hopefully.
