Do you want to use the folder as a startup folder or do you want to use it as a
template folder? Those are different things. If you have .xlt (template files) that you want to store in a common network folder, then you can use MSWord to specify that folder. Open MSWord Tools|Options|File Locations Tab Change the "Workgroup templates" location to your network path Excel will use that setting. I don't have a guess why the "at startup, open all files in" isn't being remembered. Any chance that you start excel when you're not connected to the network so that it can't find that folder?
