Default Excel Work"Book" Tabs anyone?

I have a number of Excel files which are unrelated but which I use often.
Access could be used, but not for the sort of things I do. So I'd like to
ask if (suggest that) a version of Excel could be drafted to work like IE7.0
Tabs, where I could open a number of workbooks (some of which contain several
Work"sheet" tabs, and thus be afforded the ability to switch back and forth
between multiple work"books" (top tabs) and work"sheets" (standard bottom
tabs) with greater ease and better functionality. Or would the coding for
this make Excel to bulky/slow? Thanks.

Have you tried ToolsOptionsView and checked "Windows in Taskbar"

Not the same as the top but you will have the workbooks selectable on the
Taskbar.

right. thanks. I just reposted this question in a shorter form b/c my
browser was not refreshing and showing my post, so sorry for the duplication.
As to your answer, that box is already checked. I must just be missing
something simple...

OK, I see it now. Too clunky, but you're right it works. Top Tabs would be
nice-r :-] Cheers.
