Default Excel 2007

What fun! I installed Microsoft Office Standard 2007, loaded Exel 2007, and
get this pop-up that says. "stdale32.tlb". After exiting the pop-up, I get
another pop-up that says it is "configuring Microsoft Office Standard". I
get this series of time-killers every time Excel boots up. What do you think
is going on?

Thanks for your suggestions, as long as they are phyically possible!

Default Excel 2007

I have the same trouble, or at least something similar. I bought Office 2007
a few months ago, installed it (or thought I did), and didn't use Excel at
all for a while. Meanwhile, getting ready for a move out of state, I packed
the software.

Recently someone sent me an Excel file. When I try to open it, I get that
same notice that Milt got, to the effect that Microsoft Office Standard is
being configured (I don't remember seeing anything like *stdale32.tib*.)
Pretty soon I get a note saying that I'm not authorized to get access that
package, or something. (Those notes never make any sense to me, and so they
don't stick in my memory.)

I've tried to reinstall Excel, but get nowhere---possibly because, having
packed away the first CD, I bought another copy (at full price, dammit).
Maybe the system wants the original CD; *I* certainly don't know.

Anyway, how the dickens can I open up this Excel file? I need access to it.

If you're struggling to reinstall Excel, it might be better to uninstall,
then install afresh from your new CD.

And next time you get an error message, it is probably wise to make a note
of the exact wording of the message, as that will probably help you to find
the solution.
