Default Using SUM function in MS QUERY with ODBC

Hi ,
Anyone know if it's possible to create a SUM field in Microsoft Query to sum
a list of numeric fields within ODBC.

The list of records that I'm downloading has a field for quantity , and I'm
trying to get this lot summed within ODBC, not after it's been downloaded
to the spreadsheet.

I've tried various permutations of SUM(QTY) but I keep getting a SYNTAX ERROR
and I can't find any examples of the correct syntax (if there is one).
