Default name tents (place cards) 2-fold mail merge

I do this quite often - assuming that you have Microsoft Word and you are
using an "Avery" brand of name tents - see if this works.

Open Microsoft Word - click Tools from the menu bar - click Envelopes and
Labels - click Options - select your Tent Card number from the list - click
OK - click New Document - click Mail Merge from the Tools drop down menu -
click Form Letters from the Create drop down menu - Click Active Window on
the pop up box - Click Open Data Source from - Get Data drop down menu -
select your Excel document from the Open Data Source pop up box (you may need
to change the "Files of Type" to Excel - this is found at the bottom of the
Open Data Source pop up) - wait a moment, it will take Word a little while to
connect with Excel - Click Entire Spreadsheet, OK on the Microsoft Excel pop
up box - Click Edit Main Document on the next pop up box - you will then see
Word again, on the left side of the window in the corner directly above the
document you will see a drop down button that reads "Insert Merge Field" -
click the Insert Merge Field button - select each field that you want to be
displayed (keep in mind, merge fields are the same as the headings on your
Excel document, if you do not have column headings in your Excel document,
you will need to add them before this merge will work properly) - once you
have selected all of you fields, you can adjust the spacing and font
size/color etc on the main document - once the formatting is to your liking,
click on the Tools Menu again - click on Mail Merge - click on the Merge
button. Your information should now appear in Word on the Tent Card template
- I always print 1 card just to check the spacing before I print all of them.
Hope this helps and works for you!
