Default How can I change column designation from number to letters?

Both the columns and rows in my excel 2003 spreadsheets use number
designations. e.g. instead of cell A1 or 1A I get R1C1. How can I switch
to either lettered columns or lettered rows? The way its set up now makes it
very difficult for me to use relative and absolute values in my equations.

Go to the Tools menu and choose Options. Go to the General tab and uncheck
the first item: R1C1 reference style.
