Using Outlines in Excel
What is the different when you change your summary columns to the right of
detail? When I turn this feature on or off - it still displays the same infomation wether it's selected or not. What is this used for? -- Sandi Gardner |

If you click on those +/- characters, you can expand/contract the details.
They'll still be there, but they'll be hidden--kind of like Autofilter can be used to hide rows. In fact, if you used Data|subtotals to apply the outlining, there are numbers at the top of those +/-'s that can hide/show that whole level.
