Default paste "values only" not possible

Hi. Im trying to concatenate cells snd only get the formula showing =A1&B1,
not the result. I looked through help, it says to cut and paste "only values"
but this option doesn't appear! (I get 6 options by clicking the arrow next
to the clipboard, only to do with format.) I tried special paste and selected
"values" but its not having any of it. What's going wrong? ANy help would be
great.
Thanks.

Matty

Try Tools, Options, View and if the Show Formulas checkbox is ticked then
tick it again.

Select your formula and press Ctrl + C then go to Edit, Paste Special,
VAlues the paste option is not available until you have copied something into
the memory.

Regards
Peter

Was the cell (in which you tried to enter the formula) formatted as text
before you started typing into it? If so, you would not enter a formula,
just text made up of some characters (that happened to be "=A1&B1"). Start
again, with a cell NOT formatted as text. Type in the formula and you should
see the result, not the formula.
